What Macy's Announced for the Holiday Season
In its September hiring announcement, Macy's, Inc. said it is filling part-time store jobs at its Macy's, Bloomingdale's and Bluemercury locations, plus full- and part-time roles at select supply chain sites. It set three national hiring days at its stores. The first ran September 24. The remaining two fall on Thursday, October 22, and Thursday, November 19, with times set store by store.
Now the plain version. Albuquerque is not on the company's list of top hiring markets, which leans on metros like Phoenix, Houston and Los Angeles, and Macy's has not published a headcount for Albuquerque or a national total. We won't guess one. What you can count on: the hiring days run at Macy's stores, Coronado Center included.
The store is staying put, too. Macy's announced 14 closures for early 2026, and none of them were in New Mexico.
💵 What It Pays and What Comes With It
Macy's says every posting lists its pay range, so you see the number before you apply. The company names colleague discounts, 401(k) savings, early access to earned wages and an employee assistance program among its benefits, with medical, dental and vision coverage available based on eligibility.
One local note: Albuquerque's minimum wage depends on where the work is performed, and a store inside city limits follows the city's floor. Our 2026 Albuquerque minimum wage guide walks through it.
If you want to stay past New Year's, say so in the interview. Macy's pitches seasonal work as a way into longer-term jobs.
📋 How to Show Up Ready on October 22
- Call the store first. Macy's has not posted a single event time. Coronado Center's number is (505) 889-2100.
- Apply online before you go. Macy's applicants can also record an interview online ahead of time.
- Bring photo ID. If you're hired, you'll fill out work-authorization paperwork.
- Know your real availability. Holiday retail runs on evenings, weekends and the days around Thanksgiving. Have your schedule ready to hand over.
Who Else Is Hiring for the Holidays
Macy's is not the only employer staffing up. On October 7, UPS said it plans to add 100,000 seasonal workers nationwide to sort, move and deliver packages. Michaels says it is hiring more than 10,000 seasonal workers across its U.S. and Canadian stores. Neither company has released an Albuquerque count. Apply directly through UPS Jobs and Michaels Careers.
